Sum of All Parts: Contemporary Mosaic Art in North America, will be held December 4, 2007 – January 30, 2008 at the Walters Cultural Arts Center in Hillsboro, Oregon. Submission receipt deadline is October 15, so it’s time to mail those digital images on CD today! Only fine art will be considered; no functional art. For a full prospectus, click here. The mosaic above is titled “Fissures + Enclosures,” created by Lynn Adamo, one of the very gracious hosts and jurors for this all-too-rare mosaic show. Materials for this 12″ x 12″ piece are stone, slate, hand extruded ceramic, smalti, and handmade felt. See more of Lynn’s work here.
How interesting! I know so little about mosaics. I told you about going to an encaustic demo last night. I learned then that I will not be doing encaustic but I will be appreciating it much more in the future. When I took Tom Snyder’s glass mosiac class I realized the same thing. Charlotte had an oragami masters who brought international Oragami to Charlotte. They barely got any media coverage.
